The reason due to which company sells refurbished gadgets on such a lower prices because it anyhow wants to sell these products as these are kind of junk for the companies. So, for selling them quickly they offers huge discounts on these reconditioned products.
It is a great advantage for the people as they save a lot of money while buying a new gadget for them. Let’s say, you wanna buy a laptop which costs Rs. 50,000 then instead of buying the new one, you could get the same smartphone but refurbished at half of the price means you can get that mobile at Rs. 25,000. So, you see how much you can save by buying the refurbished gadgets as these are cost-effective.
2. Like-new condition
As I mentioned above that the seller of refurbished gadgets first cleans and repairs the whole product. They test it and if there exists any problem then they resolve that. If necessary they also change the damaged parts such as screen plates, sensors, etc. They bring it to the stores only after a final testing.
So, when you get your refurbished gadget then it will look like a new one. There will be no damage or anything to the gadget. Also, it will run like a new one too. So, it really good thing about the refurbished gadgets.
3. Double tested
Another benefit of buying the refurbished gadgets are that they are all double checked. After these refurbished gadgets are returned back from the customers then the manufacturer or the refurbished products seller test them if they are working properly. The gadgets are then repaired and tested again for checking their performance before they sell it to another customer. So, there are very high chances that you will get a properly working and best conditioned refurbished gadget.
In fact, I bought a refurbished Dell Latitude laptop which is working great till now. So, you get a double tested product if you opt for refurbished gadgets.
4. You can get older models
Yup, you can get those models of the gadgets too which are not available or discontinued from the manufacturer. These old models of different gadgets such as mobile, laptop, desktop etc. can be found in the refurbished gadgets. But you will think why one would want to buy the old models of the gadgets, then the answer is very simple.
Some people do not like the improved or upgraded version of certain gadget and hence prefer to buy the old model which fulfills their requirements. So, if you too want to buy any old model of some product then look for them in the refurbished gadgets section.
5. Environment Friendly
Refurbished goods are actually environment-friendly. Every year millions of mobiles, tablets etc. are thrown away and these electronics emits radiations which are environmental hazards. So, if people will buy these products then the amount of electronic waste will be reduced which will eventually help our dear environment to keep clean.
Cons of buying refurbished gadgets
Above were the benefits of buying refurbished gadgets. But as everything has a negative aspect too then these refurbished gadgets also have some cons which you should know before buying the refurbished gadgets. So, let’s have a look at the cons of buying refurbished goods.
6. No Warranty
The biggest disadvantage of buying refurbished gadgets is that you will not get a warranty on these goods as you get with the new gadgets when you buy them. It’s not like that they do not provide warranty at all. You get a 1-month warranty with the refurbished gadgets. The company thinks 1 month is enough time to check the performance of the refurbished gadget you bought.
If you buy refurbished gadgets from the well-known companies then they can also provide a warranty of more than 1 month. So, whenever you buy any refurbished gadget then make sure that you use it to the fullest just to check if there is any fault or the device is working fine.
7. Unknown Life Span
When you buy a new gadget then you have an idea about how long that particular device can last. For instance, if you buy a new phone then without a doubt it can last for 1 and more year. But it is not in the case of refurbished gadgets. We can’t figure out how long they will last. If you are lucky enough then the product may last longer or it can get damaged within a very short period of time. But the chances are very rare that the product will get damaged within very short period of time. Most of the refurbished gadgets show life span as long as a new gadget.
8. Can’t check them properly
If you buy a new device then you check everything about that gadget like camera, computer, tablet and so on. And you are very sure that all the things are new. But in the case of refurbished goods, you can’t check everything. For example, the battery of the gadget you are buying may be at their last stage. So after the period of 1-month warranty, it may die. So, checking everything of the refurbished good is not possible which is one of the greatest cons of buying refurbished gadgets.
9. The accessories may not be original
As I mentioned earlier that the refurbished gadgets are also called the reconditioned goods. Means the seller first repairs the gadget and then sells it. The seller may also replace the accessories of the gadget if any of its accessories get damaged. So, you will not get to know if all the accessories of the refurbished gadget you are buying are original. Most of the times you do not get any warranty on the accessories.
10. Risk of being faulty
There is also high of the gadget being faulty. You don’t know where the product came or why it was returned or was it returned or stolen. So, there is always a risk associated with refurbished gadgets.
Tips for buying refurbished gadgets
I. Always buy from the trusted brands
Whenever you decide to buy the refurbished gadgets then make sure that you get the trusted and popular brand. The popular the brand is, better the product you will get. Apple, Dell, HP etc. are the great brand to buy the refurbished gadgets.
II. Warranty period
Always check the warranty period of the gadget you are going to buy. Some products come with a warranty of 30-90 days whereas some do not offer the warranty at all. So, ask if the gadget comes with a warranty or not. If the seller is not providing the warranty then do not buy that gadget. Try to avail the maximum warranty and use the device to its fullest during the warranty period.
